HELP US HELP ANGEL and other dogs and cats!

We have a very special dog at New Leash on Life - her name is Angel!  She is a year old mastiff mix that came to us from Wilson County Animal Control (WCAC) after being found dumped along the side of the highway along with an old metal desk. No one knows how long she was on the side of the highway and WCAC thinks she was waiting for her owners to come back and get her!  They never did! We are so grateful that WCAC kept her safe and loved until she could come to us.

Angel weighed less than 60 pounds when she came to New Leash on Life. Mastiffs normally weigh 100+ pounds at this age. One could see all of her ribs, spine and hip bones.  Our immediate concern was getting weight on this girl.  As she began to gain weight we realized she was having some issues with one of her knees or hips as she was not putting any weight on her left leg - we call that "three legging it".

As it turns out she not only had a torn CCL (ACL in humans) but a broken pelvis which was an old injury as it has partially healed. We don't know if she was hit by a car, kicked by a horse or maybe even kicked by a human when she was very young. We can not address the broken hip at this time as it is major surgery (re-breaking her pelvis and setting it with plates and screws.)  Her immediate need was to have her knee repaired. We consulted with several vets and they feel she is coping well with her broken pelvis and maybe at some point surgery will be deemed appropriate to fix the hip issues, but her knee must be fixed immediately.

The surgery and rehabilitation will cost approximately $2,500 if not a little more. We are reaching out and asking for your help by making a donation to New Leash on Life's Angel Fund. (When donating, please put in the comment section "Angel's Surgery and Rehabilitation.)

Angel had knee on Wednesday (April 17th) to repair her torn CCL and is doing GREAT - recovering at our Adoption Center as we look for a foster home for her.

The Angel Fund is a special fund at New Leash on Life dedicated to providing medical treatment to the animals in our care.  Used to treat everything from heartworm, mange and injuries, the financial resources provided through this fund saves lives and ultimately contributes to the health and well-being of all animals living in our facility. The Angel Fund has enabled us to increase our adoption rate to 95%.

The Angel Fund is made possible through supporter donations. 100% of your gift goes directly to medical treatments for dogs and cats in our care.  Please become an angel to an animal in need today!
